What’s The Difference That Makes The Difference?

by on Sep.10, 2019, under Blog Posts, Inspiration & Motivation

I’m often asked this question…

How is it that some people who are faced with challenges move through them and grow and thrive.  And then there are others who are faced with challenges and they let the challenges destroy them.

Working with many clients over the last 20 years and studying the most current research on neuroscience, how the brain works, there is only one conclusion I can draw.  It depends on what you focus on.  You may think, well that’s easy for you to say but……..

I too have had my challenges, so I appreciate how if feels when you find yourself in scary, uncomfortable situations.  I was a single mom when my daughter was 6 months old and my son was 3 years and I had breast cancer twice, to name a few. But I knew I had to rise above these situations in order to move forward.

I’ve been asked many times how I was able to do that and create a happy, fulfilling and successful life.

It wasn’t easy, but it was simple.  Here are a few things that will support you in living the life you want.

  1. You have to be clear about what you want your life to look like.  What experiences do you want to have in all areas of your life.
  2. You have to take full responsibility for your life.  This is not about blaming yourself, it’s about recognizing you have the strength and power to create the life you want.
  3. You have to be willing to do what it takes.  You have to make changing your life a priority.  You have to have a deep desire to create the life you want.
  4. You have to know who you are at the core.  What are the qualities and characteristics that are your true essence and then make decisions based on your core identity.
  5. You have to remove any internal obstacles such as negative emotions and limiting beliefs that are stopping you from living the life you want.  You have to do the inner work so you can create your outer world the way you want.

What Does Your Body Language Say About You?

by on Jul.29, 2013, under Blog Posts, Communication Skills, Leadership Skills

I was so excited when I saw this video…

MindBodyConnection…..because it scientifically validated what we’ve been teaching for so long – how the mind and body are connected, how our thoughts affect our physiology and our physiology affects our thoughts, and ultimately how both impact our success in life and in business.

This research has proven that we can learn how to have a powerful positive impact on others by learning how to utilize body language to get the result we want. Whether you like it or not the moment someone sees you they make a split second decision about you.

As a leader you want to…..

…..be in control of how people perceive you. Do they see you as a powerful leader? Or do they see your insecurities and inadequacies? Most people just accept the way they’re feeling and put no thought into preparing themselves mentally, emotionally and physically before interacting with others.

This video is a great reminder of how it is a learned skill for many and how quickly and easily we can prepare ourselves in a way that will create a positive impression with others.

This isn’t about whether you have it naturally or not…..

…..it’s about being able to conjure it up when you need it, and knowing how to do that. This skill impacts us personally and professionally and as we’ve heard many times, you never have a second chance to make a first impression.

Take a look at this video and see how you can change an outcome by two minutes of simple preparation. PowerPose

Video on Non Verbal Communication Through Body Language

This is so powerful and one of the reasons we include non-verbal communication in our Breakthrough Leadership Program. It’s something that has to be experienced to gain the full benefit of maximizing your non verbal communication through body language.

Hold on to Your Vision

by on Feb.10, 2011, under Blog Posts, Inspiration & Motivation, Lynn Robinson Tips, Success Strategies

Have you ever had a vision that you gave up on?   For 17 years, I’ve held on to a vision of The Robinson Group training team and my vision has finally become a reality.  We have recently welcomed 3 new trainers to our team.  So many times people have approached me about working with us and somehow it just wasn’t the right fit.  At times it was very disappointing.  It’s so easy to give in and give up, and make choices that you know aren’t giving you what you want.  Every so often I would think that this is never going to happen…..and tell myself to just forget it.  But, somehow, it would always pop back into my head and if I was honest, I knew I still really wanted to create a training team with like minded people.

Are You Over-worked, Over-committed and Overwhelmed?

by on Feb.08, 2011, under Blog Posts, Leadership Skills, Lynn Robinson Tips, Success Strategies

Challenge:

Overwhelm is something that many of us are faced with.  There seems to be more and more we’re required to do.  Between our personal life, family, and work, it’s becoming very challenging to fit everything in and maintain our sanity.  We’re also being bombarded constantly with information overload.  I was reminded of this when I was working with a client yesterday who is understaffed and overworked which resulted in complete overwhelm.

Leadership: Are You Faced With The Same Decisions as The G-8 and G-20 Leaders?

by on Jan.25, 2011, under Blog Posts, Decision Making Strategies, Leadership Skills

Leadership has some core responsibilities whether you’re a global leader or a leader in business. I was listening to an interview about the G-8 and G-20 Summit in Toronto this morning. The discussion was on how to approach the global economic situation. Some of the leaders believe that the only way to move forward is to continue spending for growth while others believe the opposite.

Business or Pleasure – Is There a Choice?

by on Jan.25, 2011, under Blog Posts, Decision Making Strategies, Leadership Skills, Life Skills

How do you balance running a business and time for yourself?  For most business owners it’s not easy to take time away from the business.  The only way to justify it is to really recognize the value in stepping away from the day to day and giving your mind a rest.  In business we’re thinking all the time.  Visioning, creating, developing, and communicating.  All of this takes mental energy, to say nothing of the physical output.

When Is An Opportunity Really An Opportunity?

by on Jan.25, 2011, under Blog Posts, Decision Making Strategies, Life Skills, Lynn Robinson Tips

Yesterday I was working with a client and one of the topics she wanted to discuss was an opportunity that had been presented to her. She wanted my feedback on the email which was sent to her regarding this “opportunity”.

It made me think about how many times I’ve been presented with an “opportunity” and how stressful this can be. I’m sure we’ve all heard people say things regarding opportunities, such as “opportunity only knocks once at your door” ” this is the opportunity of a life time” ” if I pass up this opportunity, I’ll never have this chance again”. One question I have is why is it so stressful if it’s truly an opportunity?

Are You Comfortable With Your Self Worth?

by on Jan.25, 2011, under Blog Posts, Inner Resources, Inspiration & Motivation, Leadership Skills

Today was a great day. I was reminded about how important it is to feel good about yourself and how high self-esteem influences how we see ourselves and also how we perform on a daily basis. Self-esteem also impacts how we feel about ourselves. When we feel good about ourselves, we have self-confidence. We look forward to learning and growing. We also know we can overcome any challenge that comes our way.

When we’re young and innocent, we see the world as a place of possibility and at some point, for many people, that changes.

How Important is Rapport to Your Business?

by on Jan.24, 2011, under Blog Posts, Communication Skills, Leadership Skills, Success Strategies

When building our business we’re not always able to work with people we naturally connect with. If we rely only on that natural connection in business we are totally limiting our success. Imagine being able to skillfully create that connection and build rapport with employees, customers and future clients.

How Do You Identify Your Limiting Beliefs?

by on Jan.24, 2011, under Blog Posts, Life Skills, Lynn Robinson Tips, Success Strategies

Our beliefs are one of the most unconscious filters we have. Because of this it isn’t always easy to determine what our true beliefs are. Most people will tell you what they believe in and yet their lives don’t reflect those beliefs.

The only thing between you and your desires is your beliefs. Your beliefs determine your success in all areas of your life because they drive your behavior. Beliefs are the thoughts we have about ourselves, other people and the world, that fuel our actions.

Do You Really Believe In You?

by on Jan.24, 2011, under Blog Posts, Inner Resources, Inspiration & Motivation, Success Strategies

Our beliefs are so powerful and yet so elusive. We succeed or fail based on our beliefs. Most people live their life waiting to be shown something is possible while others forge ahead creating their life believing they can do it, without any concrete proof, just a deep knowing that it’s possible.

Coincidence or an Attention Grabber? What Do You Think?

by on Jan.24, 2011, under Blog Posts, Inspiration & Motivation, Life Skills

Well, this trip to England has definitely had a magical and meaningful start. When things are meant to happen and you’re meant to meet someone, no matter what you do or where you are, it somehow happens in the most unexpected ways.

As I was standing up to deplane at Heathrow airport, I hear a voice behind me calling quietly “Is that you Lynn Robinson?” When I turned around, I couldn’t believe my eyes.

Which Path Would You Take?

by on Jan.24, 2011, under Blog Posts, Inner Resources, Inspiration & Motivation, Life Skills

There I was, sitting on the bedroom floor in tears. I had just hung up from my husband and was feeling lost and alone, wondering how I could go on.

We had separated a few months earlier, which had been a surprise to me at the time.

My daughter was around 9 months old and my son was just over 3 and I didn’t know how I was going to cope with being a single mom. Especially when my heart was breaking.

Do you remember where you were and how you felt about the tragic event of 9/11? Who were you thinking about? How do you feel when you think back to that event? Do you remember just the tragedy or do you remember the amazing courage and kindness that flooded New York?

2001 started out as my best year as far as business goes. I had been hired by a company out of New York and London, England to develop training programs and deliver them in some of the most amazing venues I had ever worked in.

Are You Hearing One Thing and Seeing Another?

by on Jan.24, 2011, under Blog Posts, Communication Skills, Inner Resources

A couple of weeks ago I met Stan when I was out for a walk. I hadn’t seen him for a while, but I immediately could tell that Stan seemed quite upset and preoccupied about something. Normally Stan is cheerful and outgoing, but he seemed withdrawn and so unlike the Stan I was used to seeing.

After talking a few minutes we decided to go to Starbucks for a coffee and it wasn’t long before he started to share about the issue he was struggling with.

Can You Access Your Creativity Whenever You Need To?

by on Jan.24, 2011, under Blog Posts, Inner Resources, Lynn Robinson Tips, Success Strategies

This morning I was sitting in our hot tub with my husband, before starting my day . We often do this as it’s a great place to discuss our day and get focused and also share ideas. This morning, we were discussing the presentation I’m giving at the WBO (Women Business Owners) dinner meeting. They’ve asked me to speak about creativity and how essential oils can be used to stimulate our creativity. Although we do have a line of Aromatherapy, my husband is the creator of the blends so I wanted his input.
